Natural Stone–A wonder of Mother Earth.

Natural stoneMarble flooring tile. is a collective name for thousands of different types of stone that are found and quarried from all around the world. The appearance and the characteristics of natural stone are determined by the manner in which the stone was formed: by rivers, by volcanoes, by tectonic folding.

The name refers to a variety of earthen born materials including Slate, Marble, Limestone, Travertine, Granite, and Sandstone.  Each of these stones has slightly different properties.

Alongside this commercial classification, there is also an alternative scientific classification, which is divided into three categories:

  1. magmatic rock, which was created by the cooling of liquid magma.
  2. sedimentary stone, which was created by the compression of loose fragments of existing stone or by the deposition of limestone particles in water.
  3. metamorphic rock, which was created by the transformation of existing magmatic or sedimentary rock under high temperature and/or pressure.

Natural stone is strong and stable to live with. It exudes a rich, organic, beautiful surface and has a confident, timeless presence in any room. You can  feel the eons of time it took to produce this natural wonder of Mother Earth. That’s how special every piece is!

Each natural stone is unique because no two places on earth have the exact same geological composition. This means that natural stone of the same type can also differ widely.  Stone is a natural material that will bring warmth, if it is used as an ornament or decoration.  It has a natural charm and represents the connection of nature and the earth.

Some retailers use a grading system to rate the quality of materials. This can refer to the size, shape, and thickness of the tile, as well as the condition of its surface. Most grading systems have three levels of quality. Grade 1 refers to high quality, uniform materials.

If you ask whether stone flooring is worth the investment, we at Boyer Tile will tell you that it is. Natural stone will improve the overall resale value of your home.  Whether you are trying to sell your house or just simply improving it for personal reasons, it is the best option there is.  Stone floors are expensive.
